  3. Open Window › Effects & Presets, paste the name in the search box and double-click Flickering Opacity - at layer in.

Press U on the layer to see the keyframes, and drag the last one to change how long the transition lasts. To play it backwards, select the keyframes, right-click and choose Keyframe Assistant › Time-Reverse Keyframes.
