How to apply Blinking Opacity

  1. Select the layer you want to move.
  2. Open Window › Effects & Presets, paste the name in the search box and double-click Blinking Opacity.
  3. Change the amount and speed in the Effect Controls panel.

Behaviors are driven by expressions, so there are no keyframes to move. Use the sliders the preset adds in the Effect Controls panel.

Where is Blinking Opacity in After Effects?

Open Window › Effects & Presets and go to Animation Presets › Behaviors. It is quicker to type the name in the search box at the top of the panel.

Do I need to download Blinking Opacity?

No. It is installed with After Effects; this preview was rendered in After Effects 2026. On disk it is an .ffx file in the Presets › Behaviors folder inside the After Effects application folder.
