How to apply Fade Out
- Select the layer you want to move.
- Open Window › Effects & Presets, paste the name in the search box and double-click Fade Out.
- Change the amount and speed in the Effect Controls panel.
Out presets are tied to the layer's out point. Trim the layer to the length you want and the animation follows the end of the layer.
Where is Fade Out in After Effects?
Open Window › Effects & Presets and go to Animation Presets › Adobe Express › Out. It is quicker to type the name in the search box at the top of the panel.
Do I need to download Fade Out?
No. It is installed with After Effects; this preview was rendered in After Effects 2026. On disk it is an .ffx file in the Presets › Adobe Express › Out folder inside the After Effects application folder.
How do I change Fade Out after applying it?
